Meet Dr Vanessa El-Achi
Dr Vanessa El-Achi is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with advanced training in high-risk obstetrics and fetal medicine. She holds a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU), for which she was awarded Dux of her cohort, and currently works as a Staff Specialist in high-risk obstetrics at Liverpool Hospital. She has a special interest in preterm birth, which is the focus of her research as a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney. She has presented her research at both national and international conferences. Through both her clinical work and research, she is committed to improving outcomes for women and babies through evidence-based care and the ongoing advancement of women's health.
Vanessa's passion for obstetric ultrasound stems from its ability to provide valuable insights into fetal development while also creating meaningful and memorable moments for expectant families. This extends to gynaecological imaging, with a focus on delivering accurate, high-quality assessments across all aspects of women's health. Vanessa strives to ensure women and their families feel informed, supported, and reassured throughout their care particularly when unexpected or complex findings arise.
Outside of medicine, Vanessa is a devoted mother of two young children. Her own experience of pregnancy and parenthood has deepened her appreciation of the joys and challenges families may encounter, and reinforces her commitment to providing personalised, patient-centred care to every woman she sees.
